Week 0 covers structured tryouts designed to evaluate both individual skill and team dynamics in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Use races and scrimmages to assess players on coachability, communication, and game sense—then build an 8–10 player roster ready for competitive play.

Week 1 has players establish personal and team goals while discovering the best kart build for their playstyle. With a focus on communication, roles, and structured practice routines, teams lay the groundwork for long-term growth and competitive success.

Week 2 is all about mastering line work—the optimal racing path for each track in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Players will learn advanced techniques like soft drifting, brake drifting, and shortcut timing by studying World Record Ghosts to perfect their route execution.

Week 3 focuses on strategic item play—teaching players how to use, hold, and time items effectively based on race position and team coordination. From lag trails to rerolling strategy, players will learn to make smarter calls, avoid team collisions, and outplay opponents with precision.

Week 4 is all about defining and assigning team roles that align with each player’s strengths—whether leading the pack, defending key positions, or managing high-impact items. By understanding role responsibilities and when to shift them, teams can build stronger strategies and adapt to any race scenario.

Week 5 sharpens team communication through effective callouts—helping players quickly share placements, item info, and in-game decisions. By mastering timing, clarity, and positive reinforcement, teams build stronger coordination and faster reactions during races.

Week 6 dives into track knowledge—teaching players how to identify optimal strategies (Runner, Shroomer, Drafter, Bagger) for all 96 tracks based on positioning and situational awareness. With tools like Shortcat and strategic item timing, players learn to adapt their approach for every race scenario.

Week 7 focuses on advanced driving mechanics like delayed drifting, counter hops, and snaking to sharpen precision and control on the track. These subtle techniques build on earlier skills and give players a competitive edge through refined movement and shroomless shortcut mastery.

Week 8 emphasizes smart in-game decision making and risk management, teaching teams when to take calculated risks versus playing safely to protect teammates. By improving communication and coordinating item use and positioning, players learn to act as a unified unit that minimizes friendly fire and maximizes strategic impact.

Week 9 explores the impact of placement on item rolls and how players can strategically use positioning to maximize item advantages. Teams learn to balance placement and item play—sometimes dropping back intentionally to gain powerful items and improve their chances of winning.

Week 10 teaches players to flexibly switch between primary and secondary roles mid-race, allowing teams to adapt seamlessly to changing race dynamics. This fluidity enhances versatility and strategic depth, helping players support their team in any situation.

Week 11 focuses on mastering the game-changing Blue Shells and Shocks—teaching teams how to acquire, strategically use, and avoid these powerful items. Players learn to coordinate dodges, timing, and friendly-fire tactics to minimize setbacks and maximize their competitive edge.

Week 12 brings everything together as teams apply their skills to develop strategies, assign roles, and choose cups for competitive play. Players work collaboratively to communicate, adapt, and refine their approach, showcasing their growth and teamwork from the entire course.
